FP7 Project MOVE: Stakeholder Workshop in Salzburg

In the context of the FP7 research project MOVE (Methods for the Improvement of Vulnerability Assessment in Europe), an user/stakeholder validation workshop took place in Salzburg from June 6 to June 8 2011.

The overall objective of MOVE is to provide policy makers, public administrators, researchers, educators and other stakeholders with an improved generic framework and methodology for the measurement and assessment of vulnerability to natural hazards in Europe's regions. It will employ an integrated, comprehensive approach that will help to guide decision making in the future.

Project partners and stakeholders from the case study regions in NW Portugal, Cologne, Salzburg and Florence discussed the integrated MOVE Vulnerability framework and results from the case study work. The feedback and comments from the local experts will now help the MOVE project team to adapt and revise their developed concepts and tools. The event took place at the Edmundsburg in Salzburg, which provided a unique location and atmosphere above the roofs of Salzburg for this international workshop. A field trip through the city of Salzburg addressed historical and present hazards, such as rockfall and floods, with the input from local experts of the Government of Salzburg.
