This year’s Thesis development workshop, organized by the Doctoral College “GIScience”, was very successful and exceeded the expectations of the participants. The presented research proposals revealed a very high standard in terms of scientific content.
During this two days event, held on April, 14 / 15, 2016 at the University of Salzburg, the PhD candidates of the Doctoral College could present and defend their research proposal in an interactive way. After the presentation the candidates had the opportunity to discuss their research plans with distinguished keynote speakers, including Helen Couclelis and Christian Jensen, as well as with experienced researchers and faculty members from the Department of Geoinformatics - Z_GIS and the Doctoral College GIScience. Poster Symposium
Embedded in the Thesis Development Workshop was the public Poster Symposium. The symposium aimed to bring together candidates of the Doctoral College and candidates of the PhD programme in Geoinformatics.
All candidates presented their research work in form of a poster and a two-minute elevator pitch. The presentations were followed by lively discussions. The PhD students received stimulating feedback on their doctoral research in an inspiring academic community.
The first prize out of three awards for the Best Poster went to Chad Langford, a PhD candidate of the Doctoral College, who is working on human mobility prediction. We congratulate Chad and all the others for their active and high-quality contribution.
